Types of Giving
Memorials and Tribute Gifts
Make a meaningful charitable gift while you provide for an enduring tribute to a family member or other loved one. Name a scholarship, sponsor an event, name a building or room on the campus, as just some examples that are lasting tributes.
In-Kind Gifts
Donations of goods and services that are considered beneficial to the college are considered in-kind donations. Check with the College to see what needs we have that might meet with the services or products you might donate.
Planned Giving
The Saints Foundation Planned Giving Program allows individuals the opportunity to ensure the financial well-being of Shawnee Community College by making gifts that provide a maximum benefit for the College, while decreasing the income tax, estate and gift tax burdens upon their estates and descendants. Philanthropic giving can merge your personal financial needs and tax planning. With the assistance of your financial advisor, The Saints Foundation can assist you in making a difference in the future while you gain the greatest benefits today.
Planned Giving Options:
- Current Will
- Living Trust
- Life Insurance
- Real Estate
- Closely Held Stock
- Charitable Trust
Pledges
A pledge enables a donor to consider a more significant gift than would have been possible. If you wish, you may make a contribution with payments spread over a period of time. Reminders will be sent when payments are due. To obtain a pledge payment agreement, request a form from the Saints Foundation office.
Securities or Real Estate
Give long-term appreciated assets you have owned for more than one year, such as real estate, stocks, and other securities. You can receive an income tax deduction and may avoid capital gains tax. An easy way to give and only requires a call to (618) 634-3211 to start the process.
Student & Employee Support Fund
The SCC Student and Employee Support Fund is a program available to provide emergency financial assistance to staff and students of SCC who suffer sudden, non-recurring, unplanned economic hardship due to an emergency such as: an accident, illness, fire, child care, housing related assistance, textbooks, required uniform or equipment expenses related to course study and others as determined. Applications are kept in strictest confidence.
Supporting Scholarships
Creating a scholarship or contributing to an existing scholarship at SCC will directly and significantly change the lives of students who otherwise might not be able to go to college. Supporting scholarships is also a meaningful way to honor family, friends, beloved teachers, a special program or any other important influence in your life. SCC students who receive a scholarship are twice as likely to graduate.
"The Cupboard" Food Pantry
Food insecurity among SCC Students has been identified as one of the most growing concerns among our student population. That need has only become larger due to the effects of COVID and their ability to work and provide the food they need on a daily basis. Many students have to decide between tuition, fees and books over a proper diet. The Cupboard at SCC is there to anonymously help those students experiencing food insecurity.
The Wishing Well Fund
Gifts to the Wishing Well Fund will allow staff and faculty to apply for funding and mini-grants to develop and implement unique ideas through buying equipment, implementing technology, in and out of classroom learning experiences, and other items that are needed to best serve SCC students.
